Program-Veteran Affairs In Action

Our chapter has focused on homeless vets at the WA DVA facility at Retsil near Bremerton, WA.

One of our chapter members is Mary Forbes, who is the assistant DVA director.

COL Mary Forbes

There is a 61 bed facility there that takes in homeless vets. Our contributions are money and time.

Yearly in April, we invite the director to our meeting and collect money to allow them (currently Dennis Brown) to have pocket money for residents to buy, shoes, clothing items, toiletries, etc. that the State does not fund.

Then in July we have a picnic at the facility to have some interaction and to raise the vet’s spirits. We have been doing this for almost 10 years.
